There is only one thing required of believers from the Lord and that is LOVE. This One Thing that seems so simple and yet can be so elusive.
This Love dwells within us like a hidden treasure which is written by Holy Spirit on the tablets of our hearts when we accept Christ as our Lord. This Love when exercised becomes a light for others to feel the warmth in their souls by this physical demonstration of Christ into the hearts of man.
It is evidence of awakened spirits of a Love that has passed from spiritual death to eternal life. This is not a natural love but a supernatural Love. As we learn to flow and dance in this river of God’s divine love this warm honey like substance permeates the very atmospheres around us.
Like a Butterfly this Love is elusive to our moods and selfish desires and our intellect chase it away quickly anytime we insist on our own way. Like a Dove it remains around us only when we are walking in His Spirit, seeking his love peace and harmony. Driven away when harsh words and bitterness overtake our souls. The Dove fly’s back to the shadow of His wings under a place of rest in the Father’s bosom.
Is Holy Spirit still within you? Yes, but the communication lines are broken until our hearts have been made ready for Her to once again to nest into a holy welcoming abode in our heart.
For the followers of Jesus Christ have been gifted a New Covenant one paid in blood by the Son of God. Gone are the old testament laws because Christ fulfilled those requirements for us. Why can’t we see this? Why do we insist on discrediting our Lord at the Cross of Calvary His sacrifice by insisting we have to obey old testament laws? The Only law that is required of us in Christ is LOVE… the Law of Love;
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” There is no commandment greater than these.
If we love God with ALL our Heart, Soul like this then we won’t want to break His old testament laws. We won’t want to break His Heart. If we Love our brother as ourselves, we won’t want to hurt them in any way.
Why then?, oh why? … for over 2000 years have many Christians refused to follow the Law of Love? Could it be that we don’t want to Love God that much? For most of us, I don’t think so. We are usually too busy jumping through hoops trying to please and love God.
Well, then that leaves ‘loving our neighbor as ourselves’ as the obstacle now doesn’t it? Its time for honesty here. God is Listening…. Do we really want to Love our neighbors as ourselves? Think about it.
We are no different then our ancestors, We have not evolved into ‘love machines’ in this 21st century with all of our technological advancements. This massive knowledge base has not changed our hearts. News stories today testify that we are just as selfish, prideful and jealous. Catering to our own, and looking down on those we disagree with or feel do us no earthly good.
Yet He tells us: “To love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” and “Love is the fulfillment of the law because it does no harm to a neighbor.”
Without the love of Christ in our hearts there is No way we can Love like God is asking us to. So now what? How is it possible to love like this?
Your spirit must be born again. It’s when God’s Love Seed within us sparks with a compassion for others that the flame of Love is ignited.
The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost so He is in there! Our hearts that is. Now, if we would just learn to listen to our hearts and learn to listen to our Spirit because God’s Love law is there witnessing with our spirit that we are the children of God. Be renewed in your mind on the subject of LOVE. We just need to practice it. Love does no ill to anybody. To be soaked in God’s word and by so doing be soaked in God’s love. Then ask the question; How is this going to effect the other person?
I urge you, to reaffirm your love for Christ a love that compels us. He died for all, and all died in Him. In the Holy Spirit and in Sincere Love – purity, understanding, patience and kindness. Love never fails.
